About Social and Systems Work by Bessie
Social and Systems Work by Bessie is a trauma‑informed, neuroaffirming, and queer‑inclusive practice grounded in dignity, autonomy, and lived experience. This is a space for people who have often had to work harder to feel safe within systems, a place to be met with clarity, validation, and genuine care.
I support people seeking therapeutic, practical, and capacity‑building support, including those navigating trauma, neurodivergence, identity, daily living challenges, and complex service systems. My work blends emotional support with real‑world strategies so you can move through your life with greater confidence, safety, and ease.
My Approach
I work through a relational, collaborative lens shaped by:
🌿 Trauma‑informed practice prioritising safety, empowerment, pacing, and choice.
🌈 Neuroaffirming principles honouring sensory needs, communication styles, and diverse ways of thinking.
⚖️ Feminist, strengths‑based and anti‑oppressive values acknowledging inequality, validating lived experience, and working alongside you to navigate systems that haven’t always been fair or accessible.
📚 Evidence‑informed frameworks drawing on extensive experience in program design, evaluation, and systems work to support both therapeutic and practical change.
I am an AASW‑accredited social worker with lived experience of neurodivergence, trauma and disability. I bring almost a decade of practice experience across community services, family violence, mental health, and integrated service systems.
Above all, I believe healing, confidence, and capacity grow where people feel seen, respected, and understood.
What I Offer
🌿 Trauma‑informed counselling and recovery support
🌈 Neuroaffirming planning, coaching, and capacity‑building
🗂️ Case management and systems navigation
📣 Advocacy within health, social, housing, justice and NDIS systems
🗺️ Service coordination and support to find the right professionals
📝 Consultation, reporting, and strategic guidance for complex situations
🎓 Professional advice, support and consultation
Support can include emotional regulation, executive functioning and daily living skills, transitions, identity exploration, and navigating multiple systems at once.
You don’t have to do this alone.
My Commitment
This is a practice where:
You’re met with warmth, compassion and curiosity
Your needs, sensory profile and communication style are affirmed and accommodated
Your goals, not a model or checklist, guide the work
You can slow down, breathe, and take up space without masking
Practical and therapeutic support sit side by side, depending on what you need that day
I aim for each session to leave you feeling more supported, understood, and empowered.
